Slovenia is renowned for its hospitality, excellent cuisine and premium wines. On this tour you will discover one of main wine-growing regions of Slovenia – Podravje. This region is especially famous for its elegant white wines like White Pinot, Riesling, Sauvignon among others.
The tour will take you from Ljubljana to beautiful Slovenske Konjice area. Many like this tour because it not only offers a taste of superb wines in the region, but it also offers a chance to enjoy the splendor of the beautiful vineyards, picturesque landscape and historical sights as well as enjoying the sensational beauty of wild animals. You will see and taste the best this region can offer!
First you will visit a beautiful country cottage where you will be received by a typical Slovenian welcome – a traditional aperitif. Then you will enjoy a unique experience of visiting a deer pen where you will come close to deer, hinds, fallow deer and mouflons. Maybe some of them will even eat right out of your hands!
On the tour of the cottage you will have an opportunity to visit a small ethnological museum and there is also an interesting hunting museum. Befitting genuine country feel to the estate, you will be served delicious homemade cold cuts and quench your thirst with a glass of good wine or homemade juice.
After a short drive you will arrive in a secluded valley where you will find beautiful remains of a Carthusian Monastery. The monks made wine here since 12th century, nowadays there is a sparkling wine cellar here. You will enjoy a tour of the monastery and taste 2 samples of superb sparkling wines accompanied with bread and cheese.
In front of the monastery you will find the oldest still working inn in Slovenia. This centuries old establishment has its own unique feel to it and here you will enjoy a meal of typical traditional stew. Then your journey will take you to one of the most modern wine cellars in the region. It is situated in the heart of the vineyards, and fully under earth with the roof covered with grass. After a tour of this exquisite cellar a wine tasting of renowned and award-winning wines will follow. You will enjoy 5 different varieties of locally produced premium wines accompanied by some cheese and bread.
