In case you are looking on the map for a place called Radol’ca I must immediately tell you that you will not find it. Radol’ca is the name by which the locals of Radovljica lovingly call their town. This is the place that one week of the year is the sweetest place in the world. This is the place where chocolate and honey reign.

The Chocolate Festival of Radol’ca is the biggest chocolate event in Slovenia. The three-day festival offers something for all generations; children’s workshops, culinary shows for the parents and much more. And of course, chocolates! Every year the organisers surprise the visitors with a special event. In the past there was a Guinness Giant Chocolate, a Chocolate fashion show and they even had a Chocolate Roulette. This year they’ll have – I’m not telling you. It’s a surprise!

Small group approach with carefully planned time, where experienced local tour operator’s chauffeur guide will collect you at the designated location for a 30 minutes long ride to Radovljica. Upon arrival you will be introduced to your destination and possible activities to experience. Radovljica is not a large town. The eight festival locations are not far apart – just an 800 m walk between the first and the last.

The town of Radovljica sits on a promontory above the Sava river and dates back to the Middle Ages. The town is an open-air museum. In the middle of the town sits the Linhart Square with houses preserved from the 16th to the 18th century. Their authenticity and architecture will fascinate you. There are many places worth visiting during your stroll through Linhart Square, like: The Lectar Honeybread Workshop and Museum, The Radovljica Manor, The Šivec House Gallery, The Museum of Apiculture …

At the same time and as you chose to visit Radol’ca during The Chocolate Festival, your stroll will take you through a paradise full of chocolate in various form, shapes and flavors.

The three-day long Chocolate Festival is the only of this kind in Slovenia. Chocolate and chocolate deserts are at the forefront of the festival though a diverse entertainment program across all the festival locations offers amusement for all the generations.

You’ll be able to taste many varieties of chocolate, learn about new flavors and new types of chocolate. You’ll meet the chocolate and pastry masters or play chocolate bingo, watch a chocolate fashion show, or make your own chocolate bar. You can relax in the park, have some food or coffee. You can have a glass of beer in the main square while listening to a concert or watching a circus show. All this is part of the Radol’ca Chocolate Festival.
