With its exceptional national beauty, this area has always attracted nature lovers. Already in 1949, it was proclaimed Croatia’s first national park. The process of tufa formation, which leads to the building of the tufa or travertine barriers resulted in the creation of 16 magical lakes. Outstanding in their universal and natural beauty the Plitvice Lakes were internationally recognized in 1979 as UNESCO World Heritage Sight.
Any time of the year, from spring to winter, enjoy the different faces of nature in the protected environment of Plitvice Lakes.

xxxxxx. Small group approach with carefully planned time. An experienced local tour operator’s chauffeur guide will collect you at the designated location for an informative three hours ride to Plitvice Lakes.
Upon arrival to Plitvice Lakes we’ll start a guided tour of the lakes protected area. Wooded paths take us along picturesque lakes divided into two sections: Upper and Lower Lakes. To tour the lake system The National Park offers visitors seven different systems and four hiking trails.
The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of small and bigger waterfalls. The lakes are set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. The National Park covers a total area of 300 square kilometers, whilst the lakes join together over a distance of eight kilometers. There’s also quite an altitude difference – the highest point is at 1,280m and the lowest at 380m – although the total height difference between the lakes themselves is only 135m. (Veliki Slap, the larger waterfall is 70m tall.)
The Korana River creates beautiful waterfalls, lakes and caves that make this National Park one of the most precious natural sights of Croatia.
The lake system is comprised of 16 named lakes and several smaller unnamed lakes, cascading one into the next. Due to the geological substrate and characteristic hydrogeological conditions the lakes system is divided into the Upper and Lower lakes. The twelve lakes forming The Upper Lakes are: Prošćansko jezero, Ciginovac, Okrugljak, Batinovac, Veliko jezero, Malo jezero, Vir, Galovac, Milino jezero, Gradinsko jezero, Burgeti and Kozjak. These lakes were formed on impermeable dolomite rock. They are larger, with more indented and gentler shores than the Lower Lakes.
The Lower Lakes, consisting of lakes Milanovac, Gavanovac, Kaluđerovac and Novakovića Brod, were formed on permeable limestone substrate and are cut into a deep canyon with steep cliffs.
The lakes and in the impressive waterfalls of Sastavci, where the Korana River springs under the base of the falls.
Every season offers a unique experience, giving you the chance to enjoy this untouched nature. Join us and take pleasure in the magic beauty of these lakes and waterfalls. They create a spectacular scenery.
After a full day of delightful experiences and after a three hours drive, we will be back in Ljubljana. Drop off is at the same location as the pickup.
